So I am going to Madonna’s concert on June 4th. I’ve been looking for the right outfit, but I ended up trying to work something by myself. I had a vision about it and I was really excited, so I started working on this Michael Kors blazer, but look what happened then:
And when I finally finished studding the first part and moved onto cutting the sleeves off, that is what happened:
Yes! Boooooo! I was really pissed off.
For some reason, the shoulder pads/underarm area was filled with cotton, messed up threads, and some weird hard fabric. No idea why, but it was all there. I tried everything possible to work it around, but couldn’t. So there I wasted money on the studs and lost a blazer. But you never know what happens when you trust your instincts right?
I’ll have to find something else to wear now, and I have to do it as soon as possible. With me leaving LA today & in a 16-hour flight, I doubt I’ll find any.
Been there, mon amis. It sucks.
Awww that was bad luck, it would have looked so kewl…somethink u will be aware for next time tho
At least the studs look great!lol
Hey thanks for visiting my blog and liking my latest post. I’m gutted for you about the blazer because although it has already been said the studs do look great. I am very jealous that you are going to Madonna, I wish I was back in Abu Dhabi, damn now I’m gutted. Anyway cheers again for visiting.
Oh, what a shame, it looked like a Balmain masterpiece ! Thanks for the “Like” and enjoy your concert !
Oh, that sucks! Have you tried to handstitch around the seems? Or like use some of the fabric from the arms and make a nice band (like a waistband) to hide the threads? 🙂 I think it’s fixable..
xo
Agreed! I was thinking the same thing!
I thought the same thing! Wrap some other material around it and maybe even some studs there too?
I should try that when I’m back in LA, thank you!!
Basting tape!!!! Get the really wide stuff and stitch it around the arm hole area. You should be able to find it in a close color. You can possibly do it all with a no-sew hem tape and iron too.
Ugh, 16hrs in a plane??? I do not envy you! Have fun though!!
❤ Jules
I can’t believe I didn’t think of that! Thank you for the tip! X
This is definitely fixable! But you need more time. Save it for the next concert. The layers are there to give the jacket shape. You can remove some of this extra fabric, but you might want to consult with someone who tailors menswear. It might be a bit tricky to get it right. Good luck!
I’m saving it for future use, I probably won’t use it until summer is over. But thanks for the tips darling! X
Hey, thanks so much for liking my recent post! You know Madge would want you to reinvent the outfit and come up with something new…she’s the queen of reinvention, right? Enjoy the concert!
She would!! And btw, the show was faaaabulous!!
I don’t see her until September! Enjoy the show!!!!
It was really amazing. Would do it all over again, any day, anywhere!
Thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you enjoy the concert! While I’m no fashion/sewing expert, I agree with the previous two posts, this is totally fixable. I hope you do fix it when you can!! Travel safe!
Thanks darling!!
Try another DIY and take with you to work on it in the plane! Too bad for this one, the vision was good!
I never seem to get work done on the plane. Sleeping aid and sleep my way off, every time! Haha
I kind of enjoy the chewed-up look myself…
A part of me loved it as well, but I didn’t go with it for some reason. Maybe I will if I didn’t know how to work it around. Thanks for stopping by!
I agree – this can totally be salvaged, if you haven’t thrown it away yet, and care to go to some trouble about it. Anyway, have fun at your concert!
Thank you! X
this had such great potential to be amazing!!
I know! Still hoping for it to turn great once I give it another shot!
I love the studs! This can be saved, don’t toss it out just yet!
Definitely keeping it in the back of the closet for after summer!
It still looks pretty cool.. if the look is badass.. nothing says badass like mysterious tears and mysterious revealed fabric.

Agreed! Definitely my second option!
Oh no! I think the the annoying-for-a-DIY project grey fabric is horse-hair canvassing (I don’t think it’s actual horse hair!) but it’s usually in better quality better made jackets to hold the shape of the fabric between the lining and the outer shell. You might be able to pick it out with sharp tweezers? Congrats on buying a brilliant jacket, and the studs look fab!
Thanks darling! I’ll still try to work on it later when I’m in LA!
the studding looks sick! inspiration for my next DIY project for sure
Yay! Let me know when it’s done! X
This blazer is too awesome
thank you for all the likes … and that jacket is not done!
Thanks for visiting my blog. Madonna is definitely on my list of people to see in concert, by the way. I hope you have/had fun!
I know it is past the time that you went, and I am sure that you were still beautiful, but one thing I learned is that if I am to start a project always do the alterations first-the cutting, sewing, etc. before spending time doing the “blingage.” That way, if the alterations don’t work out, you at least saved the time on the blingage.
hey
Thank you for stopping by and he likes …
hope you are having a great summer … it’s 70 here !!! a rare treat
Just recently tried to do a purse with studs, turned into a epic fail:( However I am going to try again, practice makes perfect!:)
OMG i can only imagine ur face when you came to that discovery!! 😦 OH and thanks for liking my blog it’s my first day but now i feel more motivated. THANKS 😀
You’re most welcome darling! X
This is a great blog entry. You are an inspiration! Next time I have a jacket whose time has expired I will experiment with cutting the sleeves off and perhaps even putting on some studs.
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it!
i don’t know… i think you still could have rocked it! i totally get why you were bummed, but… happy accidents. the studs look great so don’t give up. 🙂

Thanks for the encouragement. Can’t wait to give it another shot once I’m back in LA!
Are you pulling our leg and keeping us in suspense for future pictures?
We would love to see you wearing it, we know you so could have pulled it off, all you need is confidence which I know you have, not to generalize but my husband is Arab Lebanese which means I socialize with the Arab community a lot because who I married and Arabs ooze confidence.
That is so sweet of you, you just inspired me. Thank you darling!
hey Fashion, thanks for all the likes …Hope your summer is sizzling !!!
thanks for the like… try make a matching basting tape from the sleeves.. keep rocking!
Will do try that once I’m working on it. Thanks for the tip! X
DIY’s are fantastic…… For keeping you on your toes. Lol
Agreed!!
You know what? I actually love it looking all ripped up like that. I would leave it.
Some of that thick fabric keeps sticking on my clothes it’s annoying and itchy. I would’ve left it the way it is, too. X
Good effort though!
Hold on to it; DIYs usually reemerge as something else
Thanks for stopping by
Thank U darling! X
Thanks for the like, Moe. How do folks in Dubai react to you and your work? I’m assuming it’s not a sympathetic audience.
It’s definitely not like LA. People don’t adapt fashion-forward menswear as easily, but the idea is changing now. It all depends on where you’re wearing what. There are strictly traditional places where fashion goes to die, and there some really high & fashion-forward places. You have to know your way around this city. 🙂
Oh my gosh!
Couldnt u fix it by putting those studs there to hode that cotton? That would look cewl too, dont u think?
LOVE your style …we should “break bread” some day soon!!!
Yes, should the universe bump us into each other one day! X
Will make it a must do …I think we have kindred spirits. maybe we can do Milan, Paris or NY fashion week together some year soon – my treat, of course:-)
Did you still get to enjoy the concert, and it would have turned out stunning! Keep it up!
Thanks for liking my post. I agree, don’t give up it is salvageable! The best thing about DIY projects is that its not truly a disaster until you have only scraps left. Sorry you didn’t get to debut it seeing Madonna though.
